Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home is set within the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Originally a farmhouse, the home was first registered with only the Manor House unit. Since then, we have built two additional buildings to accommodate and care for more residents. Our home has a warm and friendly atmosphere. We specialise in nursing care for residents with complex needs, including dementia. We provide a calm and supportive environment where person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring every resident feels valued, safe, and comfortable.

Life at Hillcrest
Our dedicated activities team works closely with residents to ensure activities are meaningful, inclusive, and enjoyable, supporting both physical and emotional health. We offer a varied programme of activities every day, including weekends, with a mixture of personalised one-to-one sessions and stimulating group events. Activities are thoughtfully adapted and tailored to suit individual abilities, interests, and preferences, ensuring all residents are encouraged and supported to take part if they wish.
Throughout the year, Hillcrest Manor hosts a wide range of special events that bring residents, families, staff, and the wider community together. These include much-loved annual celebrations such as Hillfest, our Christmas Bazaar, a Car Rally, and a popular Dog Show. We are also proud to support fundraising and awareness activities; these events not only raise funds for meaningful causes but also foster a strong sense of pride and involvement among residents and staff alike.
Meet the Manager
Jan Downes
My name is Jan Downes, the Registered Manager at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home. I am a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) who specialises in dementia care, with over 18 years of experience in the private nursing sector.
Since joining Hillcrest Manor in January 2023, I have been proud to lead a dedicated team that shares my passion for delivering high-quality and transparent care, with compassion and professionalism.
Our residents are at the heart of everything we do. With a friendly, highly skilled staff, a commitment to best practice, and a home-from-home atmosphere, Hillcrest Manor offers a unique blend of family support, care, comfort, and community.
Hillcrest Manor currently offers 42 comfortable bedrooms, 25 of which include en-suite facilities, all thoughtfully designed to meet a wide range of individual needs. We are also undergoing an exciting refurbishment programme to further enhance our accommodation, which will increase the home’s capacity by an additional 12 modern en-suite rooms. This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, comfortable, and dignified living spaces for our residents.
Alongside our accommodation, we provide comprehensive nursing and care services tailored to meet individual needs. We specialise in nursing care for residents with complex medical conditions, including dementia, physical disabilities, long-term illnesses, and palliative and end-of-life care. Our experienced and compassionate nursing team delivers 24-hour care, ensuring residents receive the highest level of clinical support, comfort, and dignity at all times.
