Keeping your loved ones comfortable and out of hospital

This service is available at the below Homes

In 2006 just over half a million people died in England, with 58% of deaths occurring in an NHS hospital. Studies have shown that less than 5% of people would rather die in a hospital, than at home or in a hospice.

In 2008 a national strategy for the provision of end of life care was published; the key aim being to reduce the needs for dying patients to have to go to hospital and/or to have to stay there. This is being achieved through improvements of the provision of support and palliative care in the community.

Hillcrest Manor and Portland House offer the highest quality of care and attention to those nearing the end of life. This includes pain relief, physical and psychological care, as well as emotional support, empathy and compassion shown to everyone; the individual, their family and loved ones.

This specialist care enables individuals suffering from chronic illness to remain out of hospital whilst still receiving the right level of medication and support.
